    WOODCHESTER MANSION

CHAMBERCOMBE MANOR ,ILFRACOMBE

It is thought Chambercombe manor has been standing since the 11th century,it was mentioned in the doomsday book and most of its original features are still in the manor.

The most famous ghost at chambercombe is thought to be that of Kate Wallace.William Oatway ,kates father is said to of put Kate in a secret chamber in between the walls of two bedrooms, when the chamber was discovered in 1865 a four poster bed complete with curtain was found along with Kates skeleton. It is said that kates footsteps and a light moaning can still be heard till this day.

Other ghosts that reside at the manor are that of two young girls ,a boy who seemed to stay in the servants quarters and a lady in white who has been seen several times by the pond in the grounds.

When we visited Chambercombe ,the best part of the evening was infact in the chapel,we heard footsteps in the room next to us,( tudor room) and also door latches moving from the same room ,sudden cold chills were also happening.

ST BRIAVELS,GLOUCESTERSHIRE.

A castle has stood here since 1110,and its most famous visitor is King John,This castle has been used mostly as a chapel and a prison.

Lots of ghosts have been reported at ST BRIAVELS ,the ghost of a crying child can be heard in the solar room, repairs recently to the ceiling found a corpsed baby fall from the ceiling,is this the sourse of the crying child?.

Another ghost is that of a man in a full suit of armour in the grounds of the castle,he is quite intimitdating, when he appeared in the 1950 it  was thought it was one of William the conquerors soldiers.

The Hanging room has a very strange feel to it,and the oubilette room (oubilette means forget) has had people leaving the castle to never return.

The castle jail has graffiti left on the walls, this proves it was often the last place some people ever saw.

WOODCHESTER MANSION, GLOUSTERSHIRE.

Woodchester Mansion is situated deep in a valley in the cotswolds,it replaced a impressive house called Spring Park.

Woodchester Mansion was never completed, after 16 years of building, the workers stopped and left the mansion never to return leaving 27 rooms unfinished, doors still lead to no where, and lots of rooms have no ceilings or floors, although the mansion was never completed, the gothic design of Woodchester is truly fantastic and boasts the tallest chapel in a private residence.

William Leigh was the owner of Woodchester and it is said that the reason his mansion was never completed was due to lack of money, when he died in 1873 his son ,also called William Leigh tried to have Woodchester demolished but it would have proved to expensive.

Woodchester Mansion remained in the Leigh family until 1938, from then it has had a few uses, American and Canadian soldiers used the Mansion as a base during World War 2 and in the 1950's it was used for field studies.

Dark magic was practised at Woodchester Mansion, which may explain some of the strange types of phenomenon reported here.

The sounds of screaming, knocking noises , and chidrens cries have all been witnessed by many people. Also a swinging chandelier, a headless horse, a tall dark figure, a young girl in the upstairs hallway, and American soldiers have all been seen by many people visitng Woodchester Mansion.

On our visit to Woodchester , we all agreed that it was one of the most interesting places we had ever visited. All of the group felt very uneasy at some point during the evening . The feeling of being watched all of the time felt really earie.

Many strange occurences happened to everyone in our group, the feeling of being touched , black shadow's moving past us, and intimitdating figures staring at you made it a really incredible evening, capturing the sound of what seemed like an inhuman wail on tape made our evening at Woodchester Mansion one we will never forget. .
